At Americans for Immigrant Justice, we offer Know Your Rights (KYR) presentations and Advice and Counsel Clinics to educate and empower individuals navigating the legal system. KYR sessions focus on fundamental constitutional protections—such as the right to remain silent—as well as key aspects of the immigration process, including available forms of immigration relief. Each presentation concludes with a Q&A segment, allowing participants to ask questions and deepen their understanding.
During our Advice and Counsel session, individuals have the opportunity to consult with legal experts who can explain relevant laws, outline possible strategies, and answer questions about their specific circumstances. It is designed to provide individuals with a clearer understanding of their legal rights, available options, and potential next steps—without establishing formal attorney-client relationship.
An Advice and Counsel Clinic is a service-oriented event where individuals have the opportunity to consult with legal experts who can explain relevant laws, outline possible strategies, and answer questions about their specific circumstances. These clinics are designed to provide individuals with a clearer understanding of their legal rights, available options, and potential next steps—without establishing formal attorney-client relationship.
A Form Preparation Clinic is a community-based event where Americans for Immigrant Justice, in collaboration with trained volunteers, provides hands-on assistance to individuals completing specific immigration forms. These clinics are designed to guide participants through the often complex and technical process of preparing immigration applications, ensuring that all required information is accurately completed for submission.
By offering this support, we aim to minimize errors or omissions that could delay processing or lead to denials. Our goal is to empower individuals by helping them submit well-prepared and complete applications to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), increasing their chances of a successful outcome.
A Know Your Rights (KYR) presentation is designed to empower individuals by educating them about their legal rights and how to effectively assert those rights in real-life situations. At Americans for Immigrant Justice, our KYR sessions specifically emphasize constitutional protections, including essential rights such as the right to remain silent. We also provide important information about the immigration system, including an overview of immigration procedures and potential forms of immigration relief that may be available to individuals.
Following the presentation, we hold an interactive question-and-answer segment, where attendees are encouraged to ask questions, seek clarification, and engage in open discussion. This portion is intended to ensure that participants leave with a clearer understanding of their rights and the resources available to support them.
