On November 14th, Greenberg Traurig hosted a unique Young Professionals of AI Justice event. Guests enjoyed the spectacular bay view at “An Immigrant Artist Showcase,” which featured several pop-up performances that wowed the crowd. Well-known Haitian artist Jude Papaloko painted live during the event and then donated his creation for a raffle at the end of the evening.

The YPAIJ recognized Carlos Corral and Maggie Berryman of Zumpano, Patricios & Winker, two dedicated attorneys who provided pro bono representation to an unaccompanied minor client of AI Justice whose life was threatened.  Susana’s story

“So many young immigrants are facing daunting challenges in my hometown [Miami], and all over the country. As the son of immigrants, it has been a rewarding experience for me to be able to help a young, aspiring immigrant with her case. I hope to continue to be able to have the opportunity to provide pro bono assistance to defenseless immigrants through AI Justice.  I consider it a down payment on the future of our city and our nation,” said Mr. Corral.

A lively photographer, sponsored by Sabadell United Bank, set the tone for fun and provided take-away portraits to the guests.   It was a great social and networking event thanks to our dynamic and engaged Young Professionals!

Young Professionals Breakfast With Cheryl

One of the highlights of joining our YPAIJ is the opportunity to attend the annual Breakfast with Cheryl.  On October 30th, several members of the YPAIJ gathered to hear the latest on immigration and Comprehensive Immigration Reform from our passionate Executive Director.  A lively and engaging discussion took place and all those in attendance left with a renewed sense of commitment to advocating for the rights of immigrants.

It was a privilege to have the opportunity to interact with Cheryl in such an intimate setting. Hearing firsthand about her experiences and efforts advocating for the rights of immigrants was both motivating and encouraging. – Jessica Marie Santis, Senior Manager, Deloitte Tax LLP
