AI Justice Litigation Program Awarded Florida Bar Foundation’s Goldstein-Van Nortwick Award for Excellence Second Runner-Up

We’re honored to be awarded by The Florida Bar Foundation for our work in the Gayle litigation, resulting in improved conditions for immigrants detained by ICE during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Gayle major class action litigation was brought on behalf of all individuals detained at South Florida’s detention facilities to obtain release from ICE custody and hold ICE accountable to its obligations under the CDC guidelines and the U.S. Constitution. In July 2021, we reached a settlement requiring ICE to implement COVID-19 protocols, comply with mandatory oversight by the federal government, and other safety measures.
