“As an immigrant myself, I understand the challenges that many immigrants face due to their undocumented status.  My family and I were fortunate to gain legal status without much difficulty, which allowed me to pursue my dreams in this country, but I know that this is not the reality for most.  For this reason, it has always been important to me do pro bono work that focuses on helping undocumented immigrants.

I was able to get involved with AI Justice and my specific client’s case since law school.  AI Justice provided essential guidance and resources that assisted us in representing our client through both an asylum case and a dependency case. Finally, after five years of working with our client, we were able to obtain a path to legal status.  It was so rewarding to see our client, who arrived as an unaccompanied minor, finally obtain relief, but it was even more rewarding to get to know him and see him mature into a young man who will now have a chance to pursue his dreams in this country.  Immigration work is tough for a multitude of reasons and AI Justice’s support was vital. I plan to continue to help others, now better prepared thanks to all I’ve learned through this experience.”
