Seeing that immigrant children of color are underrepresented in our legal system, Robert “Bobby” Brochin took on a pro bono case with AI Justice in 2021, dedicating his time and expertise to ensuring a young boy from Honduras would not have to navigate the immigration process alone. This child came to the United States as an unaccompanied minor from Honduras after escaping physical and mental abuse from his father. Bobby’s hard work and dedication obtaining a custodial order on the child’s behalf ensured the formalization of his placement with family here in the United States willing to care for him and give him the life he deserves free of harm. The child has been able to attend school and to receive necessary medical attention.

Without Bobby’s representation, this child would have been unable to seek this form of relief alone and would have been lost in the system as so many unfortunately are. Now, the child can sleep peacefully at night knowing he has a bed of his own, a supportive household environment, and that he is on the path to obtaining lawful permanent resident status.

We are inspired by the care Bobby has for his client and the role he has played and will continue to play in the child’s future success. We are so grateful for Bobby’s diligence in supporting his client and for his dedication to protecting the rights of immigrants!

“Get involved sooner rather than later,” Bobby advises other lawyers considering taking a pro bono immigration case. “There may be a concern that immigration is not in your particular legal practice, but I assure you that AI Justice’s Pro Bono Program provides the dedicated and knowledgeable support you need.”
